PUTNAM—Throngs of visitors are expected to soon brave the terrifying spectacle known as “Fright Fest 2003.” Now in its 16th year, the evening of fun and fear will be held on three evenings: Saturday, October 25, from 7 to 10p.m.; Sunday, October 26, from 6 to 9 p.m; and, Halloween night, Friday, October 31, from 6 to 10p.m. The event will be located at 158 Park Road in Putnam (next to J.D. Coopers Restaurant).
Hosted by Patty and Glenn Carlson, Fright Fest attracts visitors and volunteers from throughout the area for a howling good time. ‘Parking remains difficult, but well worth the wait,” says Patty Carlson. Visitors are encouraged to dress appropriately for chilly weather. The evening is also a chance to support a local animal shelter, as visitors are asked to bring a donation of cat or dog food, or a pet-supply item. Donations will be given again this year on behalf of animals sheltered by Eleanor Baldoni, D.H.S. Last year, over 1,300 people attended the annual event, which includes displays, props and live actors, all contributing to the fun.

A Howling Good Time—Over 20 clever and spooky displays, including comical gravestones, an unscheduled barn-yard appearance by Count Dracula; and daily specials at the “Road Kill Café,”await visitors to this year’s Fright Fest. In addition to fun for one and all, the popular event serves as a fundraiser for animals sheltered and placed by Eleanor Baldoni, D.H.S. (below, center). Call 928-5658 for more infonnation.
